Chair Report – Karen Bolin (President) provided opening comments.
Farmers Market: Intel lot at 198th, Thursday’s 3pm-8pm, music and logistics.
Outreach: The ABA is working on a Restaurant Guide, Golden Rule (Faith location Guide), and reaching out to business that are not yet members. Our website is about to be updated by Troy from Cedar House Media too!
Kickball Team: We are looking for sponsors, players, and team name ideas. This event is June 7th and benefits Homeplate Youth Services.
Establishments visited and discussed: Edward Jones Financial Advising, A Cut Above Pawn fabulous fun place to sell and buy, Electronics Unlimited and Elements Message!!!
Treasurer report – Mike Holcomb $3,004.21 in the bank! Cash in $1,500 for February 2015.
Community Partnerships- Sally Fabre Aloha High School Youth Business Breakfast is being held this year on April 10th, with the doors opening at 7:00 and the event formally starting at 7:20. contact Sally Fabre at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in attending.
Meeting Educational Program:
TJ Helm: Time Management, “Put Your Time Where Your Money Is“ How do we cover our priorities with a limited amount of time as business owners?
- First, determine your values to gain motivation. What are your guiding values? Throw out the “but’s” and the “can’ts”. If it is not a value that motivates you then ask for support for those items.
- Goals and Tasks are next! Chunk down your goals into 1 hour tasks (and several 10 min optional tasks) and chip away. Make sure to add the “Have to tasks” with some “Want to tasks.”
- Get rid of the task sticky notes and put them on to 1 document! On paper, a calendar, a Word or Excel document, look online and have fun with it so that it will serve you best. You only want to schedule 65-70% of your day to allow for incidentals (wiggle room) to relieve stress.
- “You run the day, the day doesn’t run you!” It shouldn’t take you more than 10 min a day to make your schedule. If it is taking you longer then 10min, please contact TJ to take her class.
- Remember, Miracles come in a can, not in a can’t.
Stephanie and Jon McDowell: A Cut Above Pawn
Jon and Stephanie are raising the bar in their industry, providing higher quality items and customer service. All their items are tested, legal and with a hold time of 15 days. Loans on items are 60day’s with a 30day grace period. They are as gracious as possible before loan items expire. Strictly following State and Federal regulated finance rates. You can be reassured, every item is tracked and reported. They work hard to provide the best quality items for resale. Remember they are also on Ebay, Amazon and Craig’s List.
Biz, Build or Buzz:
Eric Squires: Hub spot, a tip for reaching your customers at the moment they are opening the email you sent them. That way you can capture their attention in the moment.
Leadercast: Sally shared info and a video clip about this amazing program about developing young leaders. We are interested in finding a local place in Aloha/Beaverton area to host the live streaming of this event in May. Please find out more at: http://www.leadercast.org/live
Boy Scouts Fund Raiser contact Tyrell and Becky for Jerky, Pepperoni and Chocolate sales.
Drop and Shop. Rummage Sale at Cooper Mountain Presbyterian. Drop off items on Friday 17th from 5am-9pm drop off. Then come and shop Saturday 18th 9am-3pm. Proceeds are for their Youth Groups mission trip. They are located at 201st and Farmington
Elton Bennett Art Show: at the Edwards Center 3/21-3/22
3rd Annual Sun Run: Beaverton Rotary raise money for local youth programs in our community.
Aloha Reedville Community Council– Kody Harris ARCC –Aloha Reedville Study is complete and there is much work to do to “revitalize Aloha”. A Community Council has been created and will continue to meet and discuss how resources can best be used and other issues related to making Aloha and Reedville great! The next meeting of the Aloha Reedville Community Council will be Wednesday, March 18, 6pm in the community room at the fire training facility on Blanton, off of 209th. Residents and business owners are welcome to attend.
