A Blog is a series of articles that you write, much like a journal entry, that are a critical tool to drive traffic to your website. Searches for a business like yours start out fairly broad and pretty general. The prospective client develops ‘long-tail’ keywords that narrow the parameters of the search.

Important points:

Put yourself in the client’s seat. What are the various combinations of long-tail keywords that prospective client would use to draw someone to find me?

Effective blogging marries a writing style that populates your article with these long-tail keywords.

The hard data proves:

Blogging once a week can double your free, inbound traffic naturally and increase your leadsby up to 150%.

Your site receives search engine bumps and brownie points from consistently regular poststhat amass a greater body of work. Volume equals an increase in traffic

Blogs are more likely to be shared than a webpage.

Blogs can be a window into your personality bringing a ‘following’.

Fresh content brings frequent return visitors to your website.

Websites have become the way people check you out before deciding to do business with you.

Blogging consistently is the key to getting the biggest bang for your buck from your website.

Maren also provided a great handout to aid us in our quest to become great bloggers.

Guest Speaker: Maren Symonds on the topic “To Blog or Not To Blog” Right from her opening remarks it becomes clear that Maren intends to teach us how to drive qualified business leads to our websites and increase business and profitability through blogging.

Spotlight Speaker, Lloyd Bernstein, a volunteer with the Vote Yes for the Beaverton School District Levy Campaign gave us some very detailed background and history regarding cuts to spending and teaching related positions over the past five years. He also gave us a preliminary vision of what the future may hold and how that future can be made brighter as a result of the May 21st local election. Our Executive Secretary had detailed information available at your request. The purpose of Mr. Bernstein’s visit is to ask for the endorsement of the Aloha Business Association. A motion from the floor is seconded and passed. (M/S/P)

Aloha may be looking a little brighter these day due to the efforts of members of the Aloha Business Association with support from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, April 11, a crew of nearly a dozen people participated in the Adopt-A-Road Clean-Up. In about two hours their efforts resulted in a much cleaner area on 197th & 198th from Baseline to Johnson. This coming fall, you too will have an opportunity to help keep Aloha beautiful.
